How to get through a healthy pregnancy with chlorella supplementation

How to get through a healthy pregnancy with chlorella supplementation using Ocean Avenue WheySmart Shake
B12 is one of the vitamins a lot of vegans have to either supplement with or turn to vegetarianism by adding back in whey protein. You may not know that Chlorella contains the highest chlorophyll level per ounce of any plant, as well as protein (nearly 58 percent), carbohydrates, all of the B vitamins, vitamins C and E, amino acids (including all nine essential ones), enzymes and rare trace minerals. The research I've seen says that chlorella is something any pregnant or nursing mom should look into. Pregnant women have an increased risk of developing several health problems, including anemia, protein in the urine and the accumulation of fluid in the body, also known as edema. The nutrients present in these may be able to help prevent some of these problems. They have been shown to cleanse toxins from the milk, and then those toxins/heavy metals are excreted via bowels, not your baby's breast milk. (Also for those nursing dandelion in a nice organic, herbal tea promotes lactation and can assist in breastfeeding as well). There is an amazing daily shake supplement that contains all of this and more, and it's fully organic, called Organic Greens Complex. It's gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, kosher, nongmo certified and preservative free!!

Natural ingredients and how they support the pregnant and nursing mom

Having a green smoothie is a new daily shake that contains very few ingredients, but those ingredients are very good for you. Both spirulina, which is very nutrient dense, and  the cracked cell chlorella which has the benefit of cleansing breast milk so that after you've delivered your baby, you can give him or her breastmilk that is very clean and very nutritious, are options that every mom-to-be should consider. In fact a lot of raw vegan experts recommend them, like Dr Cousens and Dr Clement.

Next we have the glutathione that you get from the undenatured whey, the highlight of my green smoothie that I get from Organic Action Whey
Glutathione is always being required from our bodies and is consumed rapidly when we experience any sort of demand on the body, such as during pregnancy. Glutathione is the mother of all antioxidants, and will protect both mother and pre-born baby from the damages of oxidative stress and free radicals. Many of the birth defects and pregnancy complications have been linked to free radical damage, oxidative stress, and low glutathione levels in the mother and developing baby. Undenatured whey protein seems to be the best method for obtaining the building blocks of glutathione. Supplementing with glutathione doesn't neccessarily help your body. But your cells make glutathione with the rich amino acids delivered from the Action Whey protein which has been tested for heavy metals which most whey shakes have not.

Another factor that pregnant moms need to be aware of is fiber. Even before getting pregnant they recommend that you pump up that fiber. It will make you less likely to develop gestational diabetes, researchers report in the October edition of Diabetes Care. Flaxseed meal supplies not only the rich omega-3's for your baby's developing brain, but also the lignans, and soluble and insoluble fiber. This mediates the glycemic impact of your foods. I like to add flaxseed and fresh fruit to my smoothie to get all of that.

During pregnancy, vitamin C is recommended for the mother's bone and also to help in prevention of child deformities, and the acerola fruit is an amazing source of that necessary vitamin. The most common source of natural vitamin C for a pregnant mom would be citrus, rose hips or acerola berries. And you also know the importance of getting a proper supply of folate, a nutrient that aids in the development of the fetus and helps to prevent birth defects. The acerola berry (another great ingredient in the Organic Greens Complex) is a great natural source of folate and assists in healthy cell growth and works to prevent heart disease. Now, I am not a doctor, and so you should always run any nutritional supplementation past your own OBGYN before getting started with a new supplement during your pregnancy.

  1. Vitamins and minerals are important to pregnant women, knowing that what you eat is is what your child will get in his or her system. This means that as a woman, we need to be careful on everything we eat and how nutritious it could be. We must take track of our vitamin c and our taking good care of our immune system to avoid zinc deficiency in those months we are pregnant.

  2. You are so right, Diana. I know that zinc is super important in lung development, as well as the function of over 300 enzymes. So if you are worried about your zinc absorption then you should take your WheySmart at a different time than you zinc supplement during pregnancy as whey can block some of that absorption. You may not know it but your body has no ability to store zinc, so you have to get it every day in your diet. Some zinc rich foods for the paleo vegeo would be mustard greens, soaked pumpkin seeds, tuna, ginger root, leeks, soaked sunflower seeds, crab and tahini in your hummus. Great comment, Diana!!
