PCOS .. The Research You Maybe Haven't Seen Before

A lot of women turn to a paleo diet because low carb often controls a lot of their symptoms, but that is also the dietary treatment during an EBV (Epstein Barr Virus) flair up that I have seen a lot of my friends turning to. Similarly with so many other symptom based issues. And it's not hard to imagine that we are seeing research that PCOS could be triggered as a teenager by the Epstein Barr Virus. In fact a friend of mine just Facebook messaged me about the Medical Medium saying all of this... and I thought... Hey, I wrote all about this years ago (June 2014). Must be a medium! (laughing because I am intuitive.)

Some additional natural support tools I often recommend are to support our liver,. It's cleansing helps to clear excess androgens from the body. I take 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed each day because it helps with that especially when we're stressed...

Are you stressed??

Long-term treatment with telomerase activators can may be obtained from flax as well, but also the Norway Spruce. This lingan has been recommend for PCOS also. I personally love supplementation with Norway Spruce and hops. Not saying to go drink a pale ale... but the supplement I love is  totally non-gmo and free of all of those items we want to be without. I also love using Spruce in my diffuser.

If you can, focus on the cruciferous veggies (kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, bok choy, and Brussels sprouts), especially broccoli, which contain indole-3 carbinole that helps estrogen detox. For those that can't digest these foods you can supplement with whole foods capsules along side of 100mg of DIM complex and get the same benefit. This isn't just for women. It will help get rid of those man boobs that the dudes just do not want to have as they are seeing their testosterone decrease.

Doing a real detox twice yearly to keep your liver happy which is crucial to hormone balance. Liver detox supplements and herbs such as milk thistle, glutathione which you can get as a supplement or with a lots of veggies every day. Also methionine, which I get in my daily vegan shake, is found in rich supply in eggs and fish for those of you that do not eat vegan, and do approach your paleo vegeo lifestyle as more of a pescatarian style of eating. You need this adequate supply of methionine in order to produce cysteine, carnitine, taurine, lecithin, and phosphatidylcholine. These are all very important amino acids and nutrients needed for the second stage of detoxification in the liver. Make sure you are supplementing with amino acids if you do not eat these foods. You can try a whole amino supplement.  This amino allows your liver to neutralize this type of damaging estrogen by activating certain enzymes in your body, and if we don't eat a lot of amino rich foods, you may need supplementation. We all need to think outside of the box, like outside of the grocery store box.

Glutathione is also the most prevalent antioxidant that the body produces, and healthy levels are critical to safely excrete the many toxins, including our own excess estrogens that are really very toxic to your body. You may not realize it but you are full of toxins in your environment between the toxic cleaning products I have talked about, to the cosmetics you are using. Don't use any cosmetics with any ingredients you cannot pronounce, and stop putting chemical lotions and skin cleaning products on your skin. It’s all absorbed and filled with these xenoestrogens that are causing even more issues with your liver working properly. Make sure you think about your health support system as a full lifestyle and you'll have less impact on your life from both of these issues.
